Motherhood can be hard,
Being a Mom doesn't have to be...

Moms & parents, everywhere, are trying to find ways to support their children through adolescence while, also, trying to repair generational patterns and heal from their own journeys.

All too often, when one family member is in distress, the entire family can fall into a state of unrest, uncertainty, and chronic stress that can leave, even the most well-functioning families, in a state of overwhelming struggle, conflict, and chaos.

When life transitions or challenges arise, it is so easy to fall into the beliefs that we are doing something “wrong” in our homes, for our families, or with out kiddos.

I help mothers and parents of tweens, teens, and young adults navigate the grief, shame, and fear that is- all too often- part of the parenting journey.

Join me for my next workshop

Sunday, June 25th at 6:00 pm cst.

This workshop continues the conversation from our recent Life & Love In the Q podcast episode on Uncertainty Trauma. Listen here.

I’ll be talking about Uncertainty as Trauma, why this is such an important topic to understand, and how we can create more safety and connection in our homes when we create as much Certainty as possible.

Welcome!
I am so glad you are here~

I’m a Trauma-Certified & Mindfulness Based Family Life Educator, Parenting Coach, and Researcher of motherhood, families in crisis, religiosity, and post-traumatic growth.

I’m also a yoga therapist and certified integration guide for psychedelic and altered states assisted therapies.

Oh, and I am a mom of 6 kids, ranging in age from grown and flown to hovering around the nest.

As a mom, I know, first-hand, the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical burden of caring for children in struggle and distress. Especially when that distress involves a significant life event that shakes the foundation, beliefs, and patterns of a family system.

Though I know that shaken foundations can impact both parents, I am all too aware of just how easy it is for women who are mothers to tend to the wellbeing and support of others, often to the detriment of their own wellbeing and need for support.

I work with women, mothers, and families who are navigating significant personal or family life transitions; transitions that might include identity re-exploration, caregiver fatigue, chronic stress, burnout, and complex or secondary trauma.

Current research suggests that

1 in 4 youth, ages 9-24

are actively experiencing distressed mental, emotional, and/or spiritual health.

Similarly, the research is just starting to understand the impact that rising rates of adolescent distress has had on the well-being of mothers, fathers, and marriages; current data suggests that

1 in 3 mothers

are reporting some level of daily stress that impacts their mental, emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual health.

Rapidly rising rates of compassion fatigue, caregiver burnout, chronic sorrow, and role overload are compromising, not only maternal health, but the well-being of families and communities across the globe.

The reality is that if their children are struggling, mother’s and couples are struggling; if tweens, teens, and young adults are distressed, their mothers and parents are, likely, also distressed.

In my coaching, teaching, and research I am interested in the impact that social narratives have on an individual’s sense of self, identity, belongingness, and overall wellbeing.

In my private practice, I support women, youth, and families who have experienced significant life events, identity re-exploration, chronic stress, and complex trauma.

As a Family Life Coach, Educator, and Researcher,

I have a unique approach to my work.

First, I incorporate trauma informed, mindfulness based techniques and transcendental psychology philosophies to the science of self and social narratives.

My work is empirically grounded in Family Systems Theories, Kegan’s Transformational Growth Theory, and Post-Traumatic Growth Practices.

Second, My work is client-centered, growth-focused, and hope-led!

I have a passion for supporting individuals, families, and communities with the skills, tools, and resources that facilitate transformational meaning making, hope led decision making & coping skills.

About Me

Just a little about me,

For a really, REALLY long time, I chased the “ideal” in my motherhood, my family life, and my religious activity.

When my children started struggling, I kept looking for what I had done wrong, what I could have or should have done differently.

There were a lot of lonely days and fear-filled nights as I wondered how to support my kids, how to help my kids, and honestly, how to save my marriage.

There was grief, ambiguous loss, and a lost sense of self that I had such a hard time explaining to those up close to me.

I’ve learned, through the years, that there is beauty and peace and comfort in, even, the messiest of life’s moments.

It has been a long journey, but I know, for sure, that there is a power within us to transcend life’s biggest messes and transform the stories of trauma and struggle into a story of triumph and deep Soul connection.
